2021.10.23 16:40 modemmute Joey's Cafe, Peter's Magnolia Cleaners & Crossroads Being Forced Out By City
Apparently the City of West Hollywood has purchased the building that houses these three vibrant businesses, and are forcing them all to close or relocate. The property is directly across the street from WeHo City Hall. I can't find any mention of this purchase in any press or on the weho.org website.
The owners of Peter's Magnolia Cleaners are closing their location on Thursday and say they will be merging with another dry cleaner about a mile away.
Does anyone have any more info on this?

2021.10.23 16:40 Unidentified_2 The (Ongoing) Battle for Ashtown
| I was deployed at around 00:00 hours on day 702 (just after 701) with an Armored Car (that I quickly lost) to join in on the push of Ashtown. Nighttime made it hard to see anything beyond 10 meters, and I was stuck playing a game of cat n’ mouse with them. Collies were picking us off in the dark as long as we were spread apart and isolated, so most of us had the bright idea to stay near the well-lit outpost on the western outskirts of the town. |
We survived the night, and as dawn approached I could see our armored forces were probing the first few buildings entering the town. Now, at this point, I must extend my commendations to a man named “Sir Beef” who was doing a phenomenal job of coordinating the artillery crews as a frontline spotter. Because of him, they were hammering away the Ghouses and Windmills with Expert Level Percision. Combined that with the armored units destroying player-built bunkers, and Infantry pushing alongside them, we were making good progress.
That wasn’t to say that the fighting was simple and easy though. With Colonial Counter-Artillery hammering on Warden Infantry, it was raining death for both sides all across the battlefield for a few solid hours in the afternoon of day 701.
… The screams… Oh, how they Screamed...
… By 14:00 hours or so, the artillery allowed our Infantry and Tanks to push pretty far into the central marketplace. There, fighting bogged down to brutal Close Quarters Combat as we fought house by house; street by street; block by block, until every last building and shell hole was clear of a colonial. And they were ferocious, through the Wasteful Calm in the barren forests, and from the northern river coastline, they fought like demons.
By 18:00 hours, the Warden Army had pushed all the way up to the road separating us and the TH. it was about 50 meters away or so. Chokepoints formed in various locations that stunted any immediate progress, and armored vehicles walled off the TH.
And by Nightfall -- before 20:33 at the exact moment of this screenshot -- the Colonials launched a ferocious night attack to gain back what was lost.
Warden Armor and Infantry suffered alike, and we regrouped. Throughout the night of day 702, the Colonials fought what was one of many counter-attacks to try and save Ashtown
The attacks slowed down by dawn, as we had survived the night. By daybreak, the battle was more or less the same; We pushed slowly from what we had lost and made our way towards the TH by evening. Only this time, we got the job done.
When the TH first went down, cheers ran up and down the ranks of our soldiers as the infantry suddenly fought more aggressively on both sides. The rest of the evening saw us moving into the TH and securing it, and by nightfall, we had secured it as our own.
The Colonials were tenacious, however, as they continued to swarm from various Outposts to the East and South of Ashtown in hopes of a counterattack.
Somewhere at around 03:00 hours on day 703, the Colonials launched their fiercest counter-attack yet with over 8 different tanks and about 100 infantry charging the city limits.
The Wardens were routed all the way back to the western outpost on the outskirts once more, allowing for the battle to commence once more.
By that point, I was exhausted. It felt like I had fought for an eternity.
The Battle of Ashtown would only continue onward...

2021.10.23 16:40 beardedheathen Help setting up a stop motion kit for two preteen kids.
My kids discovered a stop motion app and have been going nuts with it over the last month and they've made some pretty good stuff with their Legos and an old ipad. I'd like to help set them up with a complete setup for Christmas.
My vision is a green table with a green background that has a track they can put articulating arms like this: https://i.imgur.com/cbRw0ir.jpeg on for lights and the phone or to hang the people or whatever.
I have an older computer and phone I'll set up with stop motion studio: https://www.cateater.com/ for them to do editing and take the pictures.
From your standpoint am I missing something obvious or do you feel like this would be enough for you to go a long way if you had a similar set up getting started?

2021.10.23 16:40 RichOxford007 The Hidden Depths of Fairly Odd Parents
Now for a while, I've been trying to stomach the new Fairly Odd Parents episodes after having a successful start it went downhill in the later seasons, I mean it did have an interesting premise in a world where Faries exist and are capable of giving god-like powers to children, or an alien who lives on Earth and has the ability to shapeshift into any form it wants or a teacher Crocker who tries to prove that fairies exist. It's a strange show but the form of Strange involves a lot of creativity, Okay enough said If I wanted to review this I could've gone onto IMDB and ranted for a paragraph with even more grammatical errors.
Now in exchange for that paragraph of filler and introduction, I will be producing two interesting theories that we should consider as possibilities and may be linked to each other I don't know let's begin
2021.10.23 16:40 condor_redman [Question] Why doesn't Patek Phillippe sell directly through auction?
The Ref. 5711/1A-014 Nautilus (olive green dial) sold for $470,000 last July including the auction house's 25% premium. This is a watch that you can buy for $35,000 if you are lucky enough to be next in line on their famous wait list or baller enough to have a relationship some watch guru that can get you what you want. That's 10x their price and Patek sees none of it.
So, why doesn't Patek implement some sort of DTC auction and sell it's watches at market value instead of retail price? By not doing so, they are manufacturing an arbitrage opportunity and quite directly allowing other participants to profit off their good work.
The technology exists to host an auction on a platform with the ability to verify participants and protect against fraudulent bids. This isn't only about watches, this is can be applied anywhere a secondary market is inflated above it's primary market
So why isn't anyone doing this?
