A recent substantial revision of the lay-out of volume 1 (September 2004), augmentation of two earlier modes of presentation with a third bibliographic volume, as well as continued enthusiasm for the theme of “Growing Up Sexually” I guess invites a brief word of introduction addressing purpose and rationale of the present project, if only pro forma. Previous more argumentative hints have been provided elsewhere[1].
Project “Growing Up Sexually”, or “GUS”, (born January 2002) is a slowly meandering effort to “read” developmental sexualities, that is, to identify, archive and notify of publications informative of processes commonly addressed as “sexual development”. From the start, this project has been “archival” by all means. The project is entirely web-situated and web-operative, and this will be the way to go in future time. Thus, it serves as an open door for those pre-/per-/post-/non-academically occupied with the theme in all its diversity (see below). Its existence currently also is entirely non-budget and enlarges in an air of spontaneity and personal commitment only. The backbone materials are currently and kindly hosted by Prof. Dr. Dr. Erwin J. Haeberle’s Magnus Hirschfeld Archive for Sexology. The project’s homepage is LINK Needless to say I am much indepted by the kind hospitality of my host, Prof. Dr. Dr. Erwin J. Haeberle, and his associates.
In a sexological centralising of chronologies, a score of questions present themselves (Janssen, forthcoming)[2]. In GUS I like to look at how curricula construct and control sexual/erotic/pleasure bodies in a chronological/sequentially hierarchical regime. In which way are curricula presented as necessity and how are (necessary) curricula subverted and transgressed? For instance, how are bodies reduced to curricula, thus governed or disciplined by them? Also, how does curriculum figure as a contemporary paradigm for societal control of stratified bodies? What are curricula made of? How do curricula re/produce and precede self-disciplining bodies? In terms of genealogy, how are curricula retained and reinvented historically (e.g., from taboo to discourse)? How are biological ramifications of pre/adolescent bodies regimented, hijacked and recruited in/through curricula? In answering these questions, we need to address hegemonic and historical discourses about pleasure as taught, educated, learned; as sex play vs first/serious sex (notionally, rehearsive vs real sex) and familiar curricular ideas about sexual derivation, inauguration, substitution, seduction. Thus, we might be better able to ramify instances of culture critique on issues of precocity (e.g., ‘sexualization’ and sexualized media coverage) and its pedagogization. So there is anthropological well as political utility in an effort to try and digest materials as a field (rather than an instrumental dimension). For instance, might there be merit in a critical humanistic approach to sexual auto/biographies (a defense is found in Plummer, 2001)[3]?.
Thus, I have ventured in what I still experience as a facultative (‘parallel’) and to some extent subversive positioning within the sexological realm: taking “developments” as a preset (rather than the legitimate diversities that they would produce, or diversity as such) and as explanandum rather than explanans. To some extent this is a lonely and dissatisfying experience. “Developmental sexology”, a territorial concept most prominently busied by celebrated Dr. John Money, appears to connote a discipline unpractised and underrepresented in any imaginable way when looking at today’s academic paradigms (gender features as one of three canonical postmodern axes, including race/ethnicity and class). In due course, I introduced some “downloadables” that appeared (and still appears) to me unpresedented: (1) a 3-volume study comprised of a world atlas of growing up sexually plus a thus-inspired ethno-sensitive thematic monograph and auxilliary bibliographies, (2) a thematically focused web-ography and associated digital archive, and (3) a thematically dedicated reading/subscription email list facility. I concurrently argued for a sustainable platform that was to serve as a “culture monitor” but it was never established, since I received few productive and cooperative responses. Made me figure. Using three basic representational schemes (ethnogeographic, topical, bibliographic) the project aims to address ethnographic and ethnological aspects of “sexual”/gendeerotic/bodily “development”, during childhood and early adolescence.

The purpose is to gather in one place information that otherwise would be difficult to find. By its very nature, however, an encyclopedia can never be complete because information keeps changing and new interpretations emerge. We did, however, try to make the encyclopedia as comprehensive as possible, and we have gathered together approximately 100 contributors, who have collectively turned out over 200 articles. We tried to select the individuals who were experts in their field, and all the contributors met the scholarly and scientific standards we tried to set. In some cases, we deliberately sought out younger scholars to diversify the points of view represented. 2021.12.09 06:53 Revolutionary-Pack84 Paying for things in Budapest post-Covid

I am travelling to Budapest next week and I’m struggling to decide what to do about physical money. In the UK, a lot of shops and vendors have switched to card-only payment methods to reduce germs spreading via physical cash. I am just curious if this is the same in Hungary - Is it worth taking out cash for the trip or are most places card-only?

2021.12.09 06:53 pwaite1983 8 bit christmas

So yesterday I was watching the new Christmas movie “8-bit Christmas” with the kiddos. In the movie they live in Illinois, there is a scene (no spoilers) where the family is driving to Chicago and while he’s driving a car cuts him off swerving and speeding like a maniac and the dad says “Wisconsin plates of course!”. It threw me back, like wtf are they trying to flip the narrative around on us like we are the shitty drivers?! FIBS are the shitty, wild and reckless drivers that’s why they’re FIBS dammit!! Also one scene he is running through a mall pushing people out of his way and says “packer fan of course!” About a guy blocking his path, then shoved him down. Overall was a pretty good movie though.

2021.12.09 06:53 SabriNatsu Feels Unfortunate, TecKo Didn't Have Faith in Their Own Game (DW9)

Been having a blast with DW9 so far since grabbing the Complete Ed. during the last major sale, enough to put about 30 hours into it (and still going), and I'm still only in the middle of Liu Bei's CH2.
The game is at its best when missions are structured and you are freeing up allied officers from one base to go attack the main missions for the chapter. Clearing a path for Sun Jian's party in Liu Bei CH1 to then ride with them southwest and all the way up to rescue Dong Zhuo was epic as hell on Chaos difficulty, and storming the Yellow Turbans' base was a finale that took probably around 30 to 60 minutes alone.
In spite of all that epic fun, it feels like the game is constantly undermining itself, pointing out exactly where your kill target is, giving you EXP left and right (I realise it's increased on Chaos so I keep resetting my level if it gets too high), tossing you Orange Gems, Weapons, Horses.... Todays a Book of Musou day! Today's a 5x EXP day! 5x money!
It's really frustrating to see, there's a killer-epic game here under the TERRIBLE economy/balancing, but I keep having to specifically go out of my way to ignore various items or game systems just to keep from steamrolling everything.
Cant use the DLC gem packs or Orange Gems/Weapons/Horses they patched into your inventory for free.
Cant use the grappling hook.
Cant craft the good weapons too early.
Gotta reset my CH1 level any time it exceeds 15 or 20, gotta reset my level at the start of a new chapter, cant jump ahead to one of the later officers (like Jin) first or my gear will be too OP. Siege battles are (can be) amazing - the archers are deadly, I legitimately have to run around doing various chores to clear them or I get sniped. What little path there is to clear for the rams and ladders is fun, and the times the Ai decides to storm the gates once they're open, the feeling is marvelous as everyone rushes in and morale starts hitting. ....but I sometimes have to reload if the Ai gets stuck, and I realise I could just grapple from behind, knock the doors open, or worse, snipe the lead enemy commander in some cases.
With Zhang Jiao at the end of CH1, he's tucked inside one hell of a deathtrap of a building with multiple other units and can easily wipe you if the place isn't properly cleared on Chaos - this level of challenge and difficulty feels amazing/tense, and his placement and location does well to solve the "grapple and snipe" shortcuts present in other open-air bases. Plucking grass off the ground gets old fast, but structured prep work and wandering in CH2 has been wonderful with Liu Bei so far - it has a clear and immediate purpose where CH1 was a lot more loosey-goosey and freeform since Zhang Jiao's level started too low to meet that 10+ lockout. Action didn't ramp up till the coalition formed and bases started falling.
I wish there were MORE formal fail conditions during missions like an officer dying, or some base/area falling on the larger map. Clearer fail and win conditions like "Cao Cao is going here! Protect this base until they stop coming!" would instantly make the map feel more relevant.
I wish there wasn't a magic health pixel. Mind you it's saved my arse a ton, but it is really lame that each time I drop to 0 I can powder myself to 10HP and I'm good for the rest of the battle.
I guess, there needed to be less a chance to get OP fast, more cause-and-effect gameplay loops and fail conditions. The Siege Ram opening the gates doesn't guarantee the Ai rushes in - it should, and it should tell/show you outright that it's happening.
Musou Difficulty could have been a quick and dirty game-wide fix but at least on CH1, enemies were waaaaaaaaay too spongy to make (sane) use of it at present. It the enemy HP had scaled to match your current attack power, having Assault Captains and Officers that stay alive long enough to chase and crowd you, ones that don't get stopped by your magic health pixel would instantly make so many of the smaller encounters instantly more intense. I'm interested in going back and replaying Liu Bei after everything else, but with super weapons to see if CH1 on Musou Diff is more viable/less-spongy later.
My hope for DW9: Empires was that a lot of these systems would be formalised, the fail & win conditions made more clearer, the effects of your strategising and prep work made more tangible on the map. Locking each combat section to individual map chunks.... I feel like any hope of fixing DW9's open world with Empires is lost now. DW9 is close to being such a great game, if only a bit of modding here and there could be made to tweak enemy stats or behavior, and pace out rewards and equipment better. Just the bare minimum, it's almost there as-is for me.

2021.12.09 06:53 Jenzoow What did you do to Elmcreek?

What did you do to Elmcreek? Elmcreek is a nice map. All but the structures that are on the starting point. They just do not make any sense.
I quite like what I did to the place. I sold the barn and put a modded shed there. Added a cow barn at the field behind the silo. Removed the structure at the back and changed it for a greenhouse.

2021.12.09 06:53 AdeptofAlliterations Have I made a huge mistake?

I'll be honest, I'm an idiot and completely incompetent. I don't deserve to pass at all. I probably deserve to flunk out of college entirely.
A few days ago I decided to be an entitled idiot and ask if there was "any way" I could make up work I have zero excuse for missing other than "oh my mental health was bad", as if that actually matters. What's worse, it's end of semester and I'm so late and missing so many things, and it's probably going to be tons of extra work. I thought it was okay since late work isn't on the syllabus but looking through this sub I feel so awful and like such a piece of crap. Is he going to hate me after this?
In my English class I also submitted a LOT of writing assignments late - like, over a month late. The teacher did not mind (if she wasn't lying to be polite) and still graded it, but I feel really bad. I have some more left, should I not submit them and take the F? I don't want to be the type of student that makes people miserable because of their own stupidity.
