2022.01.24 17:47 icemo7 Running performance test
Today I finally did the first running performance test after having updated my grit x last week. Now I am wondering if I did everything in the right manner as in other activities I got a higher max heart rate even though it was extremely exhausting today. At one point in the test the hr stayed on the same level and I could not run faster. Maybe I am wrong an need to force myself to go more into the extremely uncomfortable situation where you nearly lose your control. What is your experience with the test? How did you proceed and what can you recommend?

2022.01.24 17:47 ftwfrodo I don't know what's happening
Even tho things are kinda falling apart right now, for the first time in my life I don't feel anxiety. I have a strange feeling deep inside of me, that it's ok, but there's no reason to feel this way! I really don't know what's going on.

2022.01.24 17:47 Rednuth8 My Lenovo Thinkpad itl 14s just lost 3% battery's health in 2 hours.
I own a 6 months old Lenovo Thinkpad ITL 14s. I use the laptop primarily for work (in Kububtu OS) however I Occasionally play some League of Legend's in Windows.
The laptop has 2 different M2 slots where each one contains each OS.
Anyhow, I take great care of the Laptop and I have maintained its battery health at 96% (as marked by the KDE power management).
However afternoon 2 hour's of gaming today I noticed that the health of the battery dripped at 93%
Even though I played during 60-20% battery time.
Is this natural?

2022.01.24 17:47 Nrm224 Is there anyone who can give guidance on my shoulder?
So I’m looking to get a second opinion, this would likely be out of my own pocket though so I want to see if anybody can explain to me if it is worth looking into.
Over the past 2 years I’ve had recurrent subluxations in my left shoulder, doing basic things like bouncing a basketball, picking up my daughter, etc can cause it to sublux. I have completely dislocated my right shoulder in the past, but not my left.
Originally my primary care provider told me he was nearly positive I had a bankart lesion after reviewing the mri.
Fast forward about a week later, I get the MRI report and it says absolutely nothing is wrong. I was pretty surprised to hear that to be honest and it’s a bit discouraging to think this is something I’m just supposed to live with.
If there is anyone that is experienced that can give advice it would be much appreciated! I have the entire CD and can provide photos for you to take a look at. Thank you in advance!

2022.01.24 17:47 kazoth I hate college.
I went into college right after I graduated from high school. I've always hated school and was really getting sick of it in my junior and senior years. I've never been a bad student and I get pretty decent grades, last semester (my first semester of college) I had really good grades. I'm going for a computer science degree but only because I really like technology, I'm not too interested in programming. Sure it's cool but I can't see myself in a career like that. I'm only in school because my mom is stuck with a casino job that she hates and she always told me I have to go to college. I don't even live with her and when I'm not in school I'll only see her a few times a month. I'm really into playing video games and would like to stream and make videos, I've told my dad about it and he thinks I'm good enough to make it but I'm hesitant on making a decision. I've even spoken to my dad about taking a break from school or full on dropping out and he seemed to told me he's happy with whatever decision I'd make as long as I have a plan. I'm just really indecisive and would like some outside advice. Sorry for having such an all over the place post I've just been going in and out of having anxiety attacks from just the thought of going, I just don't want to disappoint anyone. But I also want to do what makes me happy.

2022.01.24 17:47 NazzDaxx JKPT.C New gambling company went public today.
Usually I wouldn't give a new listing much attention on a day like today when markets are very red but this to me seems like a great opportunity. Kings Entertainment did $5.6M in 2020 Revenue with $7M projected for 2021 & expanding into North America with over $8M in cash.
They were going to go public under the ticker LKNG until they switched to JKPT. Here's a great DD summary someone did on the company

2022.01.24 17:47 Nasdaussie Dose Pena die permanently?
So im sitting in jail on a five day stint, the only thing I can think of that got me in here is a incident with pena. I read that you get 5 days for crashes where someone dies, so my question is, if I ride out my jail time will pena be permanently gone?
Just started a new game after a long time not playing and I'm still getting used to it all so I don't mind restarting, but if pena's gone I might just stick it out.
Oooorrrrrrrrrrr, is there a way to get rid of him without going to jail????

2022.01.24 17:47 9c6 Why do I need bonds?
If you’re 65, and you’re looking to Reddit for Investing advice, god help you, but we’re going to give you the answer.
If you’re 25, the answer is less obvious, to be addressed in a future post, but you won’t be 25 forever, so stick around anyway. You might gain an appreciation for bonds that will be useful later in life. If we’re lucky, we’ll live long enough to worry about retirement.
A retiree holds bonds as a large percentage of their portfolio because they need to maintain a steady withdrawal rate during market turbulence without risking their entire portfolio. Bonds provide ballast to the portfolio when the ship needs it most.
Here is a simple illustration of the principle in action from portfolio visualizer. Two retirees making withdrawals during one of the worst periods of recent market history.
Retiree #1 has an aggressive 90/10 asset allocation more suitable for a young investor just starting out rather than someone starting retirement. This is what it might look like if we didn’t add any more bonds as we neared retirement because we like living on the edge.
Retiree #2 has a conservative 30/70 asset allocation suitable for a nest egg just large enough to hopefully support their lifestyle for the next 30 years of retirement.
You’ll notice that retiree #2 only had to stomach a 16% drawdown at worst whereas retiree #1 had to stay the course with drawdowns of 40% and 50%!
If they panicked and decided to change their asset allocation (which many did at the time) they would have done that at the worst time possible and performed much much worse than this portfolio.
Drawdowns for Historical Market Stress Periods
Russian Debt Default
Jul 1998 Oct 1998
Mar 2000 Oct 2002
Nov 2007 Mar 2009
Retiree #1 saw their 1 million dollar nest egg shrink to $800k two different years, while retiree #2 never dropped below their initial million and actually ended the period with more money than they started. Taking one third of the risk and getting a greater return.
This is obviously a Cherry picked scenario, but I chose it to clearly illustrate the point.
At some point in your investing career, you’ll want to mitigate sequence of return risk, and the way you do that is with a lot of bonds.
How much bonds you need to buy and how soon is up to you. I think most target date Fund glide paths are a reasonable starting point. Feel free to adjust from there.
I’ll end with some Berstein.
Stop When You Win the Game
Bernstein was asked “How much exposure should people have to stocks?” He answered:
“A lot of people had won the game before the crisis happened: They had pretty much saved enough for retirement, and they were continuing to take risk by investing in equities. The reason why stocks aren't very risky for a young person is that you have a lot of “human capital” (ability to make money working) left. On the eve of retirement, you don't have any of that.
Afterward, many of them sold either at or near the bottom and never bought back into it. And those people have irretrievably damaged themselves.
I began to understand this point 10 or 15 years ago, but now I'm convinced: When you've won the game, why keep playing it?
How risky stocks are to a given investor depends upon which part of the life cycle he or she is in. For a younger investor, stocks aren't as risky as they seem. For the middle-aged, they're pretty risky. And for a retired person, they can be nuclear-level toxic.”
